impact-intro

On April 26, 2016 I had the privilege of attending a seminar put on by Mike Skrypnek for Operation Eyesight on income tax and estate tax reduction. Mike is an author of three books on business and philanthropy, including his most recent “Big Impact Giving”, and is an expert in guiding families in their personal journey to realize a bigger impact in their lifetimes and beyond. His impact giving process makes estate and legacy planning purposeful. Mike has a lot of knowledge in these areas including:

5 Steps to directing your wealth:

1. Start Today.
2. Hire a Specialist.
3. Write down what is important to you.
4. Have an integrated plan of action.
5. Just Do it.

The Top 7 Mistakes in Giving:

1. You don’t know that your RRSP or RRIF will be your most-taxed asset, eventually.
2. You don’t consider your legacy
3. You are not aware that we’re all involuntary philanthropists.
4. You fail to understand how you can make your gift go farther.
5. You focus on the wrong metrics.
6. You make the wrong gift at the wrong time.
7. You don’t seek professional help.

Giving with Impact through:

1. Gifts of Cash.
2. Gifts of Securities.
3. Gifts of Life Insurance.
4. Gift of RRSP or RRIF.
5. Establish your own private foundation with a Donor Advised Fund.

Working with Mike can help my work tremendously, as I am a professional fundraiser with a goal of helping nonprofit organizations be supported in various ways, and one of those ways is through Planned Giving. Mike’s goal is to help individuals and families invest in nonprofits in the best way possible to assure you pay the least taxes and make the greatest impact with your donation – so, therefore it is a win-win for everyone!

Should you wish to connect with Mike and learn more about how he can help you and/or your family with your giving strategies, I would be pleased to facilitate this. If you would like to learn more about how my experience and skills may be able to help benefit your nonprofit, or a nonprofit you may be associated with, please do not hesitate to get in touch with me as I would be pleased to meet and discuss the opportunity of working together.

I hope you enjoy my postings and find this information useful. Please let me know what you think in the comment section of my Blog http://raveresults.ca/blog/ .

When we were planning to wind up our company in 2008 we were made aware of the idea of setting up a donor advised fund with a foundation to offset the final taxes payable. So we created a fund of $8000 with the Calgary Foundation. The Calgary Foundation invests the money and since then the fund has grown and each year we have had about $400 to give to a charity of our choice. So this has been a gift that keeps on giving!
