100 Men Who Give A Damn!
On Tuesday evening, September 15, 2015, I had the distinct pleasure of taking in a meeting that I heard of through an Executive Director, Kathy Fyfe, that I work with at the Epilepsy Association of Calgary who saw it on twitter. Kathy asked me if I would go to learn more about it in hopes that their organization could also be nominated and considered.
When I got there, quite frankly I was blown away with what an amazing concept it is and the good they are doing in our local community. I then asked Alex Putici, one of the Co-Founders, after the meeting if I would be able to do my September Blog post on how this works and was so pleased he was open to me sharing this!
How it Works
Nutshell Version: 100+ Men meet, choose worthy Calgary charities to support, with a mandate to raise minimum $10,000 per quarter; $40,000 per year. Simple.
Giving should be easy AND fun! Now it is.
– 100 men (or more) get together in Calgary, who care about local community causes and want to help.
– Meet for an hour.
– Together learn more about local charities or not-for-profit organizations and one is chosen by a simple majority vote
– Each write a $100 cheque to the organization selected for that quarter and watch how the group’s commitment turns into a $10,000+ donation.
– Repeat process four times a year and witness how $40,000 will powerfully impact our neighbours when placed in the hands of deserving local agencies working to serve the community.
For more information on this incredible process and how to become involved, please contact Alex Putici, Co-Founder at alex@100MenCalgary.com or through his twitter handle @AlexPutici
There is also a group for women called 100 Women Who Care Calgary and can be reached at firstname.lastname@example.org . Interesting enough, this is a growing movement in Canada, but the first chapter in Western Canada was the ‘100 Women Who Care’, and many more have cropped up since then! There are now over 350 chapters worldwide.
